My Christmas

Hi my name is Lily. I am seven years old and today is my first day writing a blog. I wanted to start a blog because my cousin, me and my siblings, Max and Hannah, made one together. It was very fun writing a blog so I thought I would make my own one.

This Christmas was a very nice Christmas for me, because I got to go to Maine and see my grandmother Barbara and my grandfather Mike. Also, my daddy's mum Robin, my other granny, came all the way from England. My dog that we can't live with, (because we live in the wilderness where coyotes are, and coyotes as you know eat dogs) also lives in Maine, and it is much nicer for dogs in Maine, because where my grandparents live, there is water on three sides and lots of green grass all around the property. There is another dog that lives with my dog Bella, and her name is Suki.

I was very sad when we got there because there was no snow, but about five days later it snowed and then there was a blizzard and it was about knee deep! And when it was knee deep it was the best weather ever for snow balls.

My cousin was there and she got stilts for Christmas. I tried them a few times and then after ten minutes I was very good at stilts. And now I am begging my parents for stilts.

For Christmas, in my stocking, I was invited to see a Phyzgig show (which is a show where people do amazing tricks). There were yoyo people there who were amazing at playing yoyos, and when they asked for volunteers I got to go up on stage and I hula hooped on stage, and the two people on stage put a spinning plate in my hand and a yoyo in my hand and they asked if I could do it on one foot so I put one foot up and I was still doing it! That was very fun.

About two days later Hannah, me and Max and my mum went to the art museum and I saw lot's of very cool pictures. My favourite picture was a collage. When you looked up close it was all body parts, and when you stepped further away, it looked like two men with hats on.

I got to go on a sleepover with my cousin Eileen and that was the day it first snowed. Eileen and her little brother Evan, and Eileen's dad and me went sledding. Eileen went on the snow board (which is a board you stand on) and I went on the sled (which is a board you sit on). I tried the snow board but when I did it was going so fast that I tried to stop and I flew off it and hit myself on the ice really hard. Eileen is older then me, so I said to Eileen "you are older and braver so you should go on the snow board and I should go on the sled for the rest of the time we're here."

Hannah and me and my dad went ice skating. I am so bad at it and my dad is too but Hannah is the best.

The next time I went ice skating it was my mom who came instead of my dad, because my dad was going go-karting with Max. When my mom and me and Hannah got to the the skating rink it was packed. Hannah and me and mom did not have our own skates so we had to rent some. The skates I got were hockey skates. I am bad at skating but I am even worse in hockey skates. So of course I was really really bad at it. I was very jealous of all the other skaters because they were so good at it and I am so bad at it! I was especially jealous of Hannah. The hockey skates were so horrid and they didn't have my size so we got our money back and left Hannah at the ice rink with our cousin Morgan. Then Hannah had a sleep over with Morgan, while me and mom went shopping for clothes and stilts and all we found for clothes was one sweater with a L on it for Lily and we found no stilts. So we called Eileen and asked were she got her stilts and she said from amazon.com so we looked there and found some but we have not bought them yet.

On new years Eve we stayed up until midnight and when it was midnight I had a bit of champagne and that was the end of our new years Eve.

I was very sad when I had to leave. I had to wake up at four in the morning.

When I got back home it felt very weird to be back because it was so hot in Malibu, and it is so cold in Maine! I was not even used to be sitting on the floor, because I would think Bella or Suki would come and eat what we were playing with. And that is how it all ended.

  1. Lily, you are so detailed! Next time write about something that you think about the world instead of just every single thing that happened on your trip! I love it though.

  2. Lily, I love your blog! And thank you so much for sharing the story about the hockey states so nicely! You said something I didn't think of, that you were jealous of Hannah skating so well! I'll bet you were also really proud of her, but it's frustrating when you want to do something and it's hard to learn how and your sister makes it look so easy! You always get there in the end, though, and next time we will get good skates that fit you, and you will get better and better, my sweetness! But now I know why you were so grumpy and wanted those stilts so much! Keep telling us these stories, darling, one at a time... xxxMummy

  4. Dear Lily!

I loved your blog! Every word of it! It makes me remember all the details of your visit, and I was so happy to be able to hear your side of the story. You are an amazing writer. I hope you write a bit each day. Then, you might become a professional writer when you grow up and write about whatever you are interested in to expand everyone's perceptions. Thank you so much for sharing your perceptions with me.

    Love,
    Granny Barbar
